ABOUT US

"Thistle Humanits embrace equality and diversity and seek to celebrate everyone’s individuality. We recognise and promote messages and practices of equality. We believe in compassionate and accepting ways of being with all people embracing our similarities and differences."

The Ceremonies that Thistle Ceremonies Trading Ltd create are bespoke and range from Naming Ceremonies, Adoptee Naming Ceremonies through to Weddings, Renewal of Vows, Transitioning Ceremonies and Funerals.

All their Ceremonies encompass our Humanist ethos. Any profits they make are given to Thistle Ceremonies SCIO to support their Funeral Fund for those in need.

We embrace the attributes of kindness, tolerance and care for others and the natural world around us. Enshrined in this is a belief in the power of people to make a difference by supporting the right to choose; whether it is justice, better welfare or education for all. Humanism is a dynamic concept which seeks to further values of working with each other to make our world a better place to live in.

By promoting these values both in delivering humanist services through Thistle Ceremonies and upholding these beliefs through Thistle Humanists, the two organisations are inextricably linked. In all our work, we strive to embody our values by: engaging in dialogue and debate rationally, intelligently, and with attention to evidence; and affirming the notions of freedom and progress.

Thistle Ceremonies and Thistle Humanists - joint concepts where we recognise the value of the individual; provide a public service and are proponents of human worth and dignity.

There is an annual £5 fee to join Thistle Humanists, and 20% of this fee is givern direct to Thistle Ceremonies SCIO. As we are a non-profit organisation, any surplus funds are reinvested back in to improving the effectiveness of Thistle Humanists and ultimately our charitable causes.
